A Year in Review

Happy Hump Day!

Tomorrow’s Thanksgiving here in the U. S. Despite what certain politicians are saying, there’s no War on Thanksgiving here. Nobody’s telling others they can’t say the word, etc.

For some reason, I’ve been in a reflective mood this morning. Maybe it’s because of the time of year. There were a lot of changes in my professional life in the last year. And, to keep things real, I’m pretty thankful that they all happened.

Leaving my old publisher was a good thing.

Not listening to someone who understood exactly nothing of what genre I write, or the readership I’m going for, was a good thing.

Regaining my voice as an author was a good thing.

Writing changed me in ways I’m proud of. I’m more confident, self aware, and able to shine in ways I didn’t before I started this journey. It’s been over 11 years since I first unlocked my muse from her cage. Through this, I’ve met wonderful people. Mentored a handful of new writers. I’ve been told co-workers at the retail job admire me, whereas other friends say I’ve inspired them to reach beyond their comfort zone.

Heck, I’ve even got a room at a B&B in Inverness, Scotland where my picture hangs on the wall!

The road ahead for my writing is going to have hills to climb, and amazing views from the tops. There’s going to be low points, and blind curves to navigate. But I’ll get there. Because my family, friends, and I believe I will.

So, if you’re reading this, thank you for being there to read my words. It doesn’t matter if this is your first visit to my site, or you’re a regular subscriber. It doesn’t matter if you only come when I post a new blog entry, or you’re here to check out the D&D Stories.

You took the time out of your day to read something I created. And I am thankful for that.
