I write fantasy. Everything from dark to high to urban.

I write for ages 15 and up. No big sex scenes, bloody battles that last for pages, or gory fights. However, I don’t shy away from things, either. Bad things happen to good people in real life, it should be that way in books.

Readers will know what’s going on, even if it’s not spelled out. I’ve survived a lot of bad things. I’ve used my writing as therapy to help me heal. It’s the best form of therapy I’ve ever done.

I didn’t start writing until I was 40. I grew up in an environment that didn’t encourage creativity or the arts. For far too long, I believed those who said they ‘knew’ I would get rejected, so I shouldn’t even try.

Rejections are part of the process. Be ready for them. You’ll probably get a dozen or more. I have. As a fellow writer once told me, the only difference between a published and unpublished author is that one hit the ‘send’ button on the submission.

Yes, I had books published. I’ve removed those from this site. I plan to revamp them, between new projects, and re-release them.

My previous titles were published under the name of KateMarie Collins. In October of 2021, I decided to change my pen name to K. M. Warfield.

In March of 2022, I signed a 3 book contract with Creative James Media for my ‘Heroes of Avoch’ series. Be sure to keep an eye on my ‘Current Titles’ page, and follow my blog, to get the pre-release links, see covers, read blurbs!

I live near Seattle, Washington. I’ve got a family (please don’t ask me if I’m lonely – I’m not). I love my cats. I play D&D with friends. I’m Wiccan. I’m grouchy if I don’t have my coffee in the morning. And I’ve spent a glorious week in Scotland.

Other than that, I’m pretty boring. I do stuff to keep the house together and write.
